Plus its a free upgrade...LOL...you can get the Mac Book pro with the same specs has my new Asus, but it will cost you $1000 more too.

Re: What's New in Windows 8.1

Yep, I could. But although the Mac's intrigue me, what I have now does the job. Not bored with it yet. Maybe after FO4, I'll give it thought again.

I really like the Mac hardware, but for what I need I need a PC, I guess I could go bootcamp, but Its a little late now with my new laptop.

Re: What's New in Windows 8.1

Bootcamp is not worth it. It's all or nothing. I gather this from some research I was doing. Your right, Apple's hardware works! They're software is improving too. I was once told, MS for software, Apple for hardware. The iPhone certainly proved that.

You have an outstanding laptop, and you got it from a great vendor. Be happy!

Re: What's New in Windows 8.1

If you 2 got a MAC I guarantee you would like it but you would also end up missing Windows. It's a 2 edged money sword but prefer to keep it single edged and blow all my cash on Windows.

Been with MS so long, no doubt I would miss it. When you see 7/8.1 and look at OSX, it makes you wonder!

In Win 8, the way I like to close apps... is to bring the mouse to the top of the screen and drag the screen all the way to the bottom.
Like you are throwing it away.

Re: What's New in Windows 8.1

So can you live with Win8 FVB?

One thing about laptops, they are always harder to install a new OS and get the drivers right for me. It is best to leave it the way it came and make an image. I would only get drivers from the manufacturer.

Yes Sandog, it's only been a couple of days now, I have my laptop setup just the way I like, can't wait for my main rig!

I never felt good about something unless I could build it from scratch.
And my starting point was always a clean disk.

I aways felt things were snappier when all that junk wasn't included.

I didn't like removing apps that were strange,. Never knew what I might be breaking. Never trusted App removal to do things right.
