Re: 27" iMac

Amen about Brother Printers. My MFC-7420 has been working more than correctly since XP.

It does matter what companies you get the hardware from.

Re: 27" iMac

In my pursuit of objectivety, I have studied both sides of the coin so to speak. Over a three-yr cycle, the iMac is at about the same cost as a DIY high-end PC with a 27" monitor.

Provided you upgrade within the cycle as frequently as some of us do.

So the rub remains, at the end of the day, you'll be paying at worst, a bit more, and you'll be getting a computer with subpar gaming performance. Guess this is important if your an avid gamer. Hardware wise, it's hard to tell which is more reliable. A board like mine does not get much better!

Playing Wolfenstein:NO now, run's at 50-60FPS at maximum settings. I only have a 760 card.

So do I want to give-up playing AAA+ titles for a Mac!

Re: 27" iMac

I looked at the games available. Not really much to my liking.

The way I figure, if I have to run Windows on a Mac, I might as well continue with MS and just stay with what I have.

The real killer is the fact I would have to buy Adobe Pro again. $400+

Certainly have to give-up on the AAA titles.

Re: 27" iMac

"a high end mac pro with a I7 and ssd...." that would be a killer laptop!

MS want's it new Surface Pro to be a replacement for a laptop.

You could get a 15" Mac Pro with I7, retina display, 256 mb ssd, video card for about the same price as the Surface Pro 3 with the same specs, MS is nuts!

Re: 27" iMac

The 15" Mac Pro Retina I played with was $2700. A bit steep I thought.

Preferable to a Surface Pro 3.

Mac Pro had no Touch Screen.

Re: 27" iMac

For the difference in price, I'd go with the MacBook Pro.

The iMac I priced was just south of 3000.
