Re: 27" iMac

This was just a tongue and cheek link. Very little tech data here.

I did some research and the only cedible thing I could find was their 1TB HDD was giving some problems. Apple is offering to replace them. Happen with the early 2013 models.

SSD would be the way to go. I have a 240 GB now and at most it's 25% full.

If I change over it'll be about $1200 out of pocket after the write-off's. Sizeable amount!
We'll see what the future holds.

By the way Apple replaced Leo's Mac Pro desktop computer that was having issues with a brand new unit, really good support!

Re: 27" iMac

Their support is top notch!

I look at the new MS Surface Pro's and then look at Apple. Make's me wonder what MS is thinking?

They're far behind!

MS's improvements and direction they're going is what Apple already has, i.e. infrastructure;

while not the most easy machine to upgrade, it can be done;

fits an upgrade cycle every three to four years, and brings the costs in-line with a PC;

refresh the brain with learning a new OS, as I do not even give too much thought anymore when fiddling with Win7;

effortless sync across my Apple devices;

time machine;

cheaper software (except Adobe Acrobat XI Pro);

and most of all, I like their OS and infrastructure.

Would like to hear from others who can think objectively
Jim if you own Acrobat Pro 11 for Windows, you can transfer your license to your MAC for no cost. You do have to relinquish all rights to the license for Windows.

Re: 27" iMac

Whoa, that's a biggie! Thank You.

I want to see how the refresh shakes out this year. I would prefer to have Intel's latest cooler CPU. Especially for an iMac.

Thanks Miles.

Re: 27" iMac

I believe the current offerings for an iMac include pci-e SSD. I'll check though.

Re: 27" iMac

Oh yeah! Apple updates iMacs: Haswell, PCIe SSD, and 802.11ac | Ars Technica

Had to go to the Military Orders to track this down.

I may even get a Fusion drive as I am not looking for super speed. If I want speed, I'll keep what I have.

Curious to see the refresh this year!
