MechWarrior Online anyone?

Hi all!

Started playing MWO recently an di have to say that i enjoy it very much.
Always liked the Mechwarrior games an i am quite happy now to be able to fight other Mechs online.
Give it a try, it is F2P, try so,e of the Trial Mechs, buy some with the in-game currency, throw money at it if you feel the need for something "special".

Greetings

Dru

Re: MechWarrior Online anyone?

I dont play much online anymore.
I'm so old school, i just prefer single player campaign games.
I've always found online gamimg is unsatisfactory because of the repetative nature of it and the mixed skill levels. I like an overarching SP campaign story with well thought out interesting missions and sub-plots, or an interesting and engaging sandpit environment to explore.

A short game of deathmatch, CTF or RTS style games can be fun occassionally but ultimately doesn't fulfill my sense of wonder, intrigue and mystery.

Am I wrong on this, do current online games offer more these days?

Right the way i like it.
Only recently i started playing Wreckfest (Bugbears next Car game) against online opponents and really liked it for example.
And lately i enjoy running around in an 35 ton Mech at 166.3kph, armed with a Large Pulse Laser to bring chaos and destruction to all those heavy 100+ tons mechs of the enemy team.

You have several different maps and three game modes, a little bit repetitive after 55+ hours playing, and you also have Community Warfare (BattleTech Timeline, bigger Campaigns to conquer or defend a planet etc.)

Greetings

Dru

fair enough! Now you've gone and got me itching for deathmatch!
Maybe I'll boot up an old UT or Quake game and get me some frags!

Re: MechWarrior Online anyone?

Well,

several months later i am still hooked to MechWarrior Online.

I've played over 100 hours, spent several € to purchase mechs and equipment and won/earned several mechs and equipment during some special events and contests.
I own 123 different Mechs (and about 8 or 12 are coming within the next weeks) so i have plenty of roles i can choose to play within the game.
Haven't played anything Community Warfare so far (long campaigns to conquer or defend planets, choose a faction or a clan etc. etc.), only single drops.
That means either Conquest (conquer resource points, or kill all enemys),
Assault (conquer the enemy base, or kill all enemys) or Skirmish (kill all enemys) on one of the 5 different maps (two of them are already updated, bigger, better, nicer; the others will follow).
They already got 3 Servers Online (N.America; Europe; Oceanic region) and are constantly updating and refining the mechs, the maps, the Matchmaker, etc. etc.
AND IT'S TONS OF FUN! at least for me.

It's Free2Play, as i already mentioned, so it's no big deal trying it.

So, back to shooting mechs (right now i'm playing one of the big, slow ones trying to not get slaughtered by a horde of coordinated small ones).
Talking about coordination, they have in-game VOIP, so having a mic can be a big bonus.

Greetings

Dru
