Windows 10 Fall Update is Here!

Well I got my laptop updated, my two other rigs not yet, took about 15 minutes, almost has long has going from W8.1 to W10...only problem I had was Windows live mail somehow lost a dll file and wouldn't work, but I just did a repair from programs and features and it fixed it...so far so good! You'll see this when your done...verison 1511 build 10586.0...

Re: Windows 10 Fall Update is Here!

Hey FVB, I got the upgrade.

I DL the installer tool just like I did for my original installation. It put the ISO on a USB thumbdrive so I now have the full blown Windows 10 Pro x64 installation with Threshhold 2. I backed up the USB drive to my internal storage and ran the upgrade process from there. Desktop and programs are in exact same condition as before. Did not have to worry about any keys or activation either.

Re: Windows 10 Fall Update is Here!

Here's a little tip for making a bootable thumbdrive for you W10 install, use GPT instead of MBR...here's the reason....I had to redo mine because I used MBR and I don't want any problems.

How to create a Windows 10 USB installation media with UEFI support | Windows Central

Re: Windows 10 Fall Update is Here!

I used the MS Win10 installation tool to put the install on USB thumbdrive using UEFI method. With the modern mobo's we have you want to use UEFI. There are menus in the BIOS for UEFI thumbdrives whatever it is. I think UEFI BIOS can now recognized NFTS or 64bit maybe on thumbdrives. Also, UEFI BIOS can see into your system drives. Whatever it is it works.

Re: Windows 10 Fall Update is Here!

So, what's the lowdown guys? Any improvements with the update now that it been out a few weeks? I said I'd wait till Threshold 2 before I decided to upgrade (or, more likely, do a clean install). Any thoughts, suggestions?

THX!

Go for it, been good so far, no problems getting it activated, did it automatically, I would update it and then later do a clean install, not really necessary but if you have the time..

Meh, haven't gotten to it yet. I need to upgrade my version of Acronis and Kaspersky (how are these guys going to make money if Win10 lasts a while?!).
