Re: MS intends to drop Windows 7 & 8 support on newer systems

I don't know MS contract to support an OS but if it is for 10 years(???) that is a pretty bold claim. You do not know how hardware is going to change and you have to support the hardware.

Also and I am going to appear as a pariah at ABXZ but people who bought Windows 7 at the time had the perfect hardware. If I were to start going to new systems I would expect to have to go to a new OS or else don't upgrade the hardware. Intel does it with new mobo's when they make a new CPU. You see how fast hardware changes. MS already is giving away Windows 10 and has been upgrading for free to try and keep the latest hardware supported (Windows 7 > 8.1 > 10). I don't think I paid since 7.

Edit: I think I paid for 7, 8 but not for 8.1, 10.

Apple has been doing this for years...look at the first Ipad it doesn't work with a lot of the newer apps....
