Me too. I hope the developers and producers of the industry take note. I'm still looking forward to the next wave of immersive story driven and dramatic content that will shift game design into the 21st century.

Re: Doom 2016 On sale!

When I think back the Wolfenstein days when the NAZI guard was shooting at you it was pretty intense. I can remember the boss with the gattling gun and beating him for the first time. It was really exciting. Future games got better. I liked UT with the giant custom maps, this added years of gameplay to UT. Borderlands added another twist with millions of guns which no two are the same. Still I think I have grown numb to PC games which rely on multitudes of grotesque spawns in close dark rooms to try and scare you but which are quickly put down. The effect has worn off and if you want redundancy you can play Angry Birds or something similar. I think that the reason there is such a long delay in new material is there is no good ideas. A new game engine appears every 3-5yrs but it needs to be catered to a new type of game play so game developers can do something different.

Re: Doom 2016 On sale!

Could not have said it better myself. Guess that explains why FO4 is so appealing!

If I want a real deep storyline - I'll read a book or watch a good movie.

Mindless shooters I have outgrown.

Re: Doom 2016 On sale!

I believe its due to the constant turnover of new, young and inexperienced gamers buying into the market every season, coupled with highly risk averse game producers. Why try something new and innovative (read risky) when multiplayer death match and capture the flag/base/whatever have great ROI?
Basically its groundhog day every day in the gaming industry.

Occassionally something different manages to break through, like bright god rays breaking across a new shiny sand box map, to make it fun and interesting again. I live for those.

Awesome! Games are too costly plus I think many are advertised inaccurately. There as so many aspects to a new game that you are not aware of until you try it. Some games only take a few minutes to decide they won't work, heck I have even been turned off just from the installation before. The software companies know how much time you spent on the game (STEAM acct.) and should refund accordingly. I would not hesitate to ask for a refund if I were not going to continue on with the play. Also there are no post refund losses to the software company, it was just bits changing hands.
