Re: Asus rog rampage v edition 10

Congrats Sandog, great looking mobo, love the leds...
I may of had one already myself, but MC sold out almost as
soon as they got them in...
I blinked and missed the Rampage v edition 10, as it is I do
have my plate full playing with the LG-55EF9500 TV. May get
one later if MC gets them in again....

Re: Asus rog rampage v edition 10

Well guys and am very happy. Things are going very well and the board looks astounding. I have so many LED colors it looks better than a Christmas tree.

You absolutely have to see it in person to witness the beauty. I have it changing colors auto so it goes through so many I can't catch it in the dark with the camera. But between all the LED's on my mobo, graphics card and PCI SSD card it looks amazing. Very cool ROG boot logo to. Skully has to get this board to appreciate the colors, I can't relay the positive effect. It looks so so frigging awesome through my large tinted side panel with all the lights going on now. The whole underside is one long light strip. It is not a bunch of spaced LED's. The large heatsink by the I/O panel has a mirror on is that reflects the LED's you can't see above it.

I had a couple of issues. First my front headphones did not sound so good. Had the high pitch level but I installed the SurpremeFX HiFi driver package before the Realtek audio drivers. After removing the drivers and reinstalling them I now have to warmest and clearest audio ever. It sounds better than the headphones being connected straight to the rear of my Essence audio card. Bill Whithers - Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone sounded so real and good I was floored.

Only a few minor issues are around now. I have a very small USB drive in the pic above that holds all the drivers etc. but I can not read it. Only in BIOS when I look at it I can see files on it. It is some tape file format and I cannot read anything on the drive so I have no software at all with this mobo except what I DL.

Another issue I cannot jack detect my front headphones so I get no switching to them an muting of the front speakers. This makes sense because Realtek looks for front and rear audio jacks, not a USB device. Don't know how this will get fixed but I hate going to CP/Sound and selecting between speakers and headphones as default device just to hear the headphones.

And lastly, I am going to have to call MS to register Windows again but I haven't bothered because I want to reinstall Windows anyway.

Re: Asus rog rampage v edition 10

Here are some more pics of color. I am tired of trying to get a good picture and falling way short. I am looking real forward to getting the STRIX GTX-1070. That card is going to match the mobo and look awesome plus run cool. It will almost be an inch shorter so you can see the mobo better and it will have an awesome big LED logo flashing on it. I also have to move the rear fan to the outside of my case to witness the large heat sink better. I am just waiting on that Gelid fan to be in stock.

I went through a little pain with switching fans around that I will explain later but all is good.

Glad you are having fun Sandog.

Never was much of an LED person, but I like the fact that you can monitor temps of the PCI slots, along with the VRMs, and PCH.

Re: Asus rog rampage v edition 10

If I have anymore fun I think I will explode. I am eating a Cajun chicken fillet biscuit and drinking sweet tea after having been at the shooting range early this morning shooting my brand new custom AR15 for the first time. Put 120rds of hot NATO 5.56 ammo through it perfectly.

The RVE10 is a doing great. I checked the headphone audio this morning and again it was the best sounding headphone audio I have ever heard. Unfortunately, the on-board audio does not get the nice Op-amp treatment the headphones get and I get the pronounces SSSSSSSes. I will take out the front drive bay and reinstall the venerable Essence STX. I already have the perfect audio setup with the Essence STX II. I can get wonderful headphone and speaker audio, I can control volume and switching between the two with the keyboard plus have headphone profiles, plus my cord permanently plugged into the rear sound card and headphones resting on top of the left speaker with plenty of cable length to put them on.

I registered the new mobo this morning and after I put the Essence audio card back in I believe it will be time to reinstall Windows.

Yeah the LED's are nice but I am alreay overwhelmed with the case LED's. I think I will stick to my high-quality, white LED YoTS keyboard for now.

To bad about the onboard sound...no matter how good they say it is it never seems to work perfect...when I got my MB it was supposed to have the best and guess what the same problem as your Sandog!

Yes I am Skully, thanks! I will definitely get the Broadwell-E i7-6850K sometime this year even if it stays over $600.

Some people like the tin-ny cymbal-ly sounds but it bugs me. Anytime there is cymbals or the vocalist is pronouncing 'S'.

No biggy. I would have liked to have used it but my current system is perfect. It is behind the scenes, no bloatware, and easy to use. Plus it works. I just reinstalled it including my saved profiles (Stereo Spkrs, Headphone Music, and Headphone Gaming).

I am off to a birthday party and will come back to do a clean install I hope.

Have a good weekend FVB,

Oh BTW, I registered my new mobo and then submitted a support ticket for the USB applications drive.

Re: Asus rog rampage v edition 10

When I was mentioning some of the things I like, I forgot to mention
the memory config.

Support for 128GB @ up to 3333MHz quad channel is nothing to sneeze at.

Sandog when you start benching the memory bandwidth, I would appreciate
taking a look at the numbers.

You will definitely love the Mem Tweekit

Re: Asus rog rampage v edition 10

I will try later GW, especially when I get the Broadwell-E. Very busy right now getting Windows reinstalled. So much crap to do and I detest reinstalling it but I started tonight around 6PM.

Here is something new that comes with my mobo utilities.

Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0

It requires a new Broadwell-E.

Here is my boot screen.

Also, my LED's always stay on. Here is a pic with my PC turned off.

Here is a pic of the new Aura app, haven't played with it yet.

Re: Asus rog rampage v edition 10

New mobo been running fine, haven't even played with it much. I am just glad I have it and it is working. I have all the time left from now on to play with it. I set the Aura color scheme to static (fixed) the other day on red. When I shut down though it stops on some random mode and color.
