Re: Asus ROG RAMPAGE V EDITION 10

I am going to miss this board and I hate to get rid of such a special edition mobo that was probably the highest quality board ASUS ever put out but it is hard to turn down cutting edge technology and performance. Here are a few top technical reasons I got the APEX besides Skully's and FVB's good words.
  • The ability to run multicores up to 4.5GHz stock without OCing which in turn provides the greatest efficiency when not under load.
  • Since getting the latest Optane SSD I feel better about having a chipset/CPU that says it supports it.
  • NV brought us Turbo Boost 3.0 with a new OC algorithm based on power consumption. It raised clocks to new heights while going below 10W at idle. Intel is finally getting around to this type of OCing. It started with Broadwell-E and Turbo 2 and now it is a lot better with Turbo 3 even though it still requires the driver which I can live with.
  • There is a future CPU in store for X299 yet.

Those are the main reasons I am switching.

Yea I did not enjoy letting go of the RAMPAGE V EDITION 10, but the
siren call... of new, and better technology, was just to over powering...

Re: Asus ROG RAMPAGE V EDITION 10

Yeah, the RVE10 is beautiful but I am pushing +1200MHz just to get to 4.3GHz on my Haswell-E and it gets beats handily by a stock 7820X. The only better thing about my RVE10 system was it had 40 PCI lanes.
