No Man's Sky?

So I finally caved into the hype, purchased the game on Steam and was utterly disappointed because I wasn't aware of the fact that the release date had been pushed back - bummer. My patience was running thin, so I purchased it again on the PS4 and was instantly (well not really, it took about 4 hours to download on my painfully 8 Mbps line) gratified.

The game looks great, but the graphics are far from next-gen. The game seems to be much more than just exploring - the environment is hazardous, things shoot at you, your power runs out, etc., so survival is the name of the game. It's like Cast Away but set in the future. I only managed to play 15 minutes last night, and hoping to get a bit more play time tonight. But I'm really excited to explore and play more!

Are you guys planning to give this a shot?

Doing okay buddy - trust things are swimmingly at your end too!

Bahahah, manual save, old school!

Please post your initial thoughts, but more importantly, what you named your first system and planet after!

fv..it has a manual save each time you exit your ship, so yes.

Was a little glitchy on release, but developer has popped out 3 patches in one week to allay performance complaints. The game engine is amazing, using an algorithm that generates worlds on the fly. I've been enjoying it a lot, while the "things to do" can get a bit repetitious, that aspect is overcome by the sheer scale and atmosphere IMO. The developer is also working on more content...the dev is a small indy and was published by Sony, so I have no doubt that a big stick was used to get it out of the door. I love the graphics style and the visual humor...and Sammy is right, there is a fun survival aspect to the game, with the rest of the Universe evidently out to get you in many cases..ie...space pirates, aggressive critters, environmental hazards such as radiation, cold, heat, planets with poisonous rain, etc.
Reviewers are being a bit tough on this title, but I'm having fun, so to h*ll with them!

Oh, and Hi Sammy!

Best case I have ever owned...and I have been a Lian-Li guy forever.

edit;, you are going to love the split-purposing of the interior spaces.

RE: NMS game...I guess "manual" save isn't technically correct, as it autosaves on every ship exit, but same difference in a functional sense.

Thanks a lot, I've had it sitting on my table for a week waiting to get my Corsair HXi 750 power supply, and I love what I'm seeing...are you using the stock fans?

Nothing like some fine whine! Game is far from perfect, but I'll see what the dev can add to it and the modding community is starting to work...there is a "low flight" mod already that allows a little more latitude for the daredevil oriented "pilot'.

Re: No Man's Sky?

This game interests me for exploring the space and planetary flight sim aspects.
I may give it a try.
