Re: New Phone reccomendation

I recently replaced my eleven year old flip phone (!) with a Motorola Z2 Play, and after making a few simple tweaks to some of the settings I've been completely delighted with it. My carrier is Verizon, but instead of purchasing it from them I purchased an unlocked version (usable with any carrier) directly from Motorola, for a slightly higher price. The unlocked version has 64 gB of storage rather than 32 gB, 4 gB RAM rather than 3 gB, and perhaps most significantly phones purchased directly from Motorola are supplied with a near stock version of the Android operating system, with none of the bloatware the carriers tend to install on phones they provide.

Also, FWIW, in the gold color I selected it's a very pretty phone IMO.

Good luck. Regards,
-- Al

LOL, what if he isn't rich? Go to WalMart and get a pay as you go with carry-over minutes. Best value, all he needs.

Re: New Phone reccomendation

No, they have others I thought but it is a good deal. If he can't afford his own phone then he is too young for an expensive smart phone. You gotto give the kid enticement and reason to go out and do well on his own and if he is satisfied with the inexpensive phone then buying him the expensive one would have been a waste. Works much better this way.

LOL He ain't rich, but he thinks his dad is.

I'm springing for the phone itself, he will handle the plan.

It still amazes me that when he has a wifi connection, he talks to
people all over the world with his ipod.

Guys, thanks for your input. I really appreciate it.

I will run it by him.

If you have Comcast they have the best cell phone deal around, how's this sound $12 a month for 1 gig of data and that includes unlimited talk and text for up to 5 phones....if you want more data its $12 more....only thing you have to get the phone from Comcast. Plus this cell service is on the Verizon network, here's the info, and right now they have a $200 off if you buy a Samsung phone. I just checked the comcast site, they have a LG Charge 5.5 inch screen for $180....winner winner chicken dinner....lol

Here's a video of a guy that went with Comcast and got the LG Charge phone.

Re: New Phone reccomendation

I was on a tram car here the other day. Bunch of 15\16 year old students got onboard with their teacher. From what I could see every kid had a phone, and they looked to be all recent models too. A few were discussing their credit card terms.

A friend of mine lets her 6 year old play with iPad or iPhone.
I've seen kids almost as young as toddlers using a phone like a pro.

Its a very different world to when I was a kid. Imagine the next generation of apps will leave us far behind, lol

I do worry about what kids are being exposed to on the web. I'm sure the parents dont know.
