There are ppl who have managed to get 300mhz fsb with this board.

I probably can't get over 230fsb at 1:1 with my ram even at 2.8v. I've got to use the 5:4 ratio to go any higher. I'm reluctant to turn off enhanced performance or turbo mode though so that could be the problem.

LDFiberman, I hate to state the obvious but I wanted to ask if you had maxed out the voltage on the memory in BIOS yet? 2.85v I believe. That didn't help? This board has been so amazing compared to other Canterwood/Springdales I've run, it was doing 2, 2, 2, 5 with the shipped BIOS (1008-1009).

toto007, I don't think you would go wrong buying this board. I couldn't say how much of an increase in performance it would have over what you have already though. But this board is a safe buy.

Well, guys time for me to flash to 1014. If you don't hear from me within two days, call the Coast Guard Search & Rescue.

Well I managed to flash to 1014... However even with the newest Asus Update 5.22.02 it wouldn't flash from windows. It would download the file then it would say "Unable to read BIOS image. Please press the [EXIT] button to exit. So I went to Asus' website and downloaded the bios that way. I ended up having to use AFUDOS.exe that came with the downloaded file off of Asus' site. It worked well, now I don't have all the beeps at startup from all my USB devices.

Anyone else had troubles with it downloading but not reading the file? I tried the Taiwan site, the German site and the US site, all files would act like they downloaded then it would give that error. Virus checking software was off.

I used AsusUpdate and it worked fine. Downloaded 1014 from the German site. Did you download the BIOS, then use the menu option "Update BIOS from a file"? That's the safest way of using AsusUpdate.

Piddyful,

Thanks for the response. I do appreciate all the help. I’m not sure, but I think it’s the memory issue with TwinX512-3200LLPro Memory. I have some Corsair XMS256A-3500C2 Memory, and I can set timing as you said to, 2-2-2-5, with Pat, [Enable], and performance mode to [Turbo].

When I have the setting like this, I get high memory timing when doing memory testing, i.e. Aida32ee_388, Memtest 3.0, Windows testmem diagnostic, and CPU-Z120a. When I install back to the TwinX512-3200LLPro series, I have to set the performance mode back to [Standard] and memory timing back to 2-2-3-5. If I leave it at 2-2-2-5, computer won’t boot. If I set performance mode to [Turbo], computer comes up with garbage at boot time or tries to run floppy drive repeatedly, or says no hardware available.

I purchase this memory because of the timing settings. I was going to purchases the TwinX512-4000Pro with timing at 3-4-4-8. But I thought, the TwinX512-3200LLPro would be better at higher timing settings. “I guess not.”

I did notice that you get better memory scores when you set the Bios with the following settings, if your memory will support it.

___AI Overclock Tuner= Standard
___Performace Mode= Turbo
___Memory Timing= 2-2-2-5
___Performance Accel. Mode= Enable
___Dram Idel Timer= Auto
___Dram Refresh Rate= 64usec.

“P.S. I am doing this without Overclocking” and I'm using the latest Bios 1014

You'll probably get slightly better performance if you set the DRAM Idle Timer to something other than Auto. For an explanation of what Idle Timer and other memory settings do, read this guide:

Question

Ok, Guys maybe I'm asking the wrong question?

Maybe the question I'm looking for is what? is the highest timing settings you guys can get in the Bios with the ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe motherboard systems, without overclocking. With either of the memory listed below.

1 set of Corsair TwinX-512-3200LLPro and/or
1 set of Corsair TwinX-512-4000Pro

Thanks in advance..................................

By "highest" I assume you mean the tightest timings. According to Corsair's website, the 3200LLPro is rated at 2-3-2-6, so it's not surprising you're having problems at 2-2-2-5. Sure, there are probably people running XMS3200 that tight. But the difference performance-wise between 2-3-2-6 and 2-2-2-5 is probably not going to be huge. The 4000Pro is rated at 3-4-4-8. Personally, I think it's overkill if you're not going to overclock. You should read specmike's guide on RAM & CPU selection. It's very informative.

Ahhh I did see that option. I'll have to give that a shot next time. Thanks!

Sierra Bound,

I agree with you on timing settings. I was just trying to get my Performance Mode to work in Turbo, instead of Standard.

I was just curious, if anyone else could get Turbo to work with Corsair TwinX512-4000Pro. Or if it has a limitation as well as the Corsair TwinX512-3200LLPro memory?

I'm just not understanding why this memory will not work in turbo, compared to the Corsair XMS256A-3500C2 memory that will.

I know the memory boost is not much more, however every little bit counts.

When you guys quote memory timings, what order are the parameters in? I have read a few of the guides but the order is not consistent.

Thanks,

George

3 4 4 8 4 is the order. for the latency I use 64T and 64uS. I have found that gave me the best performance and bandwidth. also set your ddr voltage to 2.85.
