Re: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Thread!

Yes, it supports RAID 1. I've run one on mine since I bought the board.

Yes... looong time.

No problems at all. Still going strong.

1 PSU replaced, and CPU/graphcard fans cleaned a couple of times.
Still on XP.

Play mainly Battlefield 2 ; mod Project Reality. No serious need for power...

Switching between those with a VGA/USB Mouse/USB keyboard/headphone switcher from Aten.

Smile Re: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Thread!

Well ,I still have my trusty overclocked ASUS P4C800ED runing both xp and testing out win 7. The difficult trick with both XP and Win7 was to get my newer AGP card an ATI HD3850 to run under both operating systems.
Win 7 likes the manufactures vista hotfix drivers and games like Quake 4 run with DX11 quite nicely. Doom 3 runs in XP with DX 10 with a bit of "jiggery-pokery" for the LG flat screen 23'' that I now run. Good frame rates.
A new power supply with a single 38Amp 12 volt supply gives the newer AGP video card 'grunt' . Acually the ASUS site has the drivers still available for XP and LINUX ,2000 etc. Bios battery has been changed and newer Sata drivers give good results. Clocked at 3.45GHz the 3.0 GHz Cpu does very well on air cooling. The first video card was an ATI 9000 then an ATI 9600 ,followed by an ATI XT1650Pro and now the HD3850 AGP by PowerColor. This is not the most quiet of rigs as there are 8 high speed fans moving enough air to strip the fur off of a cat if it got too close! . Win 7 installed without much of a fuss. The default Intel chipset files and drivers all work as intended. I would build an I7 Core rig to really make use of Win 7 if I was going to pay the Dollars for the program. An Internet connection is an absolute must have for support of Win 7.

Re: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Thread!

Well been running Windows 7 for a couple of weeks now, it is the best. Just install it, go to windows update and get the soundmax driver and you are all set. Turn off all the eye candy and it is faster than XP ever was. I am not using raid so don't know if it would work but everything I use has been rock solid.

Removing Koolance Hardware from P4C800-E Deluxe?

Hello,

Man, been a long time since I've been here! Looks like the same for others as well!

Still using my P4C800-E Deluxe going on 7 years. Been a fantastic build and I'm hoping to continue using it.

I installed the Koolance EXOS system and that's been working well until now. The reservoir is starting to leak around the seams of the reservoir itself. Unfortunately, Koolance no longer sells replacement reservoirs for the original EXOS.

I'm going to try some epoxy to see if I can stop the leaks. However, just in case I need to remove it, do you think any damage will be caused by removing the blocks from the CPU & chipset?

I also have it attached to the 9800XT. I no longer have the original cooling fan for it so I'll need to try and find a replacement. Does anyone still sell CPU fans for Pentium 4 Socket 478 CPU's?

Thanks!
-Zeph

Re: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Thread!

Hi All,

Been a long time since I've visited this thread. My P4C800-e is still running strong, and I am now booting XP and Windows 7.

I am looking to see if anyone could recommend a new video card for this rig. I mostly play old games like UT, MOHAA, and UT2004. I know I need an AGP card, but wanted to see if there were any limitations to what I can use with this board. Open to ATI/AMD and NVIDIA, but kinda leaning towards an ATI HD card.

I know most people would say to buy a new rig, but that is not in the cards.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I do not have any experience with HIS products, so I can't comment on that one, other than to say it looks like it would run hot and noisy.
As for the Gigabyte, I like the brand, the price and the reviews. And it looks like it would run cool and quiet.

Re: Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Thread!

On a P4C800 Windows 8...It worked...sort of. Apart from not liking a tablet OS on a PC I found it about the same response of Windows 7.
I think this operating system is more suited to newer CPU's and modern hardware.
