It allows you to see what loads when windows boots and how long each thing takes to load. It also allows you to disable or delay start up items. I played with it months ago and though its useful I removed it as I do not need it. I have read some people claim it causes delayed booting and or system stability problems though I did not see it.

Re: Software Utilities Listing

System protection
------------------
(F) - COMODO Internet Security Premium
comodo.com/home/internet-security/free-internet-security.php?currency=USD&region=North+America&country=US
I am a big fanboy of this company, a two year user and routinely try other alternatives. Very Recourse light, shy of only one feature found in the paid version, GameMode/Sandbox/Endpoint Mgmt support, virus/rootkit/malware/adware/0-day detection and hasn't missed yet plus has never failed to clean and keep system integrity, KISS or fine-grain user friendly, updates pushed 2 or more per hr., Best in Class Firewall, and much-much more. Reviews simply do not do it justice.

CODEC support
---------------
(F) - Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP)
cccp-project.net
Ad and nag free support of most everything, even YouTube/FLV and H264. Please use Insurgent as well. Please donate, coders need food too.

JAVA Support
-------------
(F) - Oracle/Sun Microsystems JAVA Runtime SE
java.com/en/download
There are other JAVA virtual machines out there, this is my preferred.

P2P
----
(F) - MicroTorrent 2.2.1.2514 (µTorrent)
utorrent.com
Please read up on version 3 security issues before you decide to use v3.x. Please donate, coders need food too.

System Backup
---------------
WinXP & older:
(?) - Drive Image Pro 2002
no longer available except P2P.
The company that Norton bought to make Ghost great software.

WinVI & newer:
(P) - Acronis True Image
acronis.com
An image of your partitions is invaluable, especially when you can restore by partition and by file. When FUBAR occurs (and it will) this will wipe the partition and restore it EXACTLY the way it was when copied, or replace that file gone bad.
Please, backup before you update/add/change the rig with an image utility, IMHO this one is worth the dollars spent for the time and aggrevation you will avoid.

File Host Download
------------------
(F) - JDownloader
jdownloader.org
A waay-cool way to deal with RapidShare and nearly every other file host without staying up late, for free. Please donate, coders need food too.

Multimedia
----------
(F) - ImgBurn
imgburn.com
Fairly fine-grained burning software with great support. Only thing I found to be better costs more. Please donate, coders need food too.

(P) - SlySoft Software
slysoft.com/en
I have all these as i got in on a lifetime upgrade offer. Won't copy StarForce media, but what will?

(F) - Exact Audio Copy (EAC)
exactaudiocopy.de
A ripper for music that is very precice in reproduction quality of the mp3 format. LAME Encoder highly recommended. Please donate, coders need food too.

(F) - Audiograbber
audiograbber.org
EAC a bit much, try AG. Much easier to use, so close to EAC in quality you may never know. LAME Encoder highly recommended.

Networking
-----------
(?) - Neo Trace Pro
no longer available, try P2P
Graphic driven resolution utility. Find that bottleneck, or the IP adress of that dweeb doing port scans on your rig and report 'em 'till they get booted from the ISP. Formerly a stand-alone, this was bought by McAfee and rolled into the Internet suites they offer.

(P) - VisualRoute
visualware.com
Another graphic driven resolution utility. Probably the best on the market, but mighty pricey. They have a slew of offerings that vary by price and features. It is however very good software.

Data Recovery
--------------
Hard Disk:
(P) - OnTrack Easy Recovery
krollontrack.com/data-recovery
Hmmm, looks like they merged with Kroll? I use ERP 6.21 with great sucess, and a lot of patience. ERP can lift layer after layer of data on a hard disk and restore it to a empty HDD or other media. For advanced users (like the Federal Government).

Flash Media:
(F/P) - SanDisk Rescue Pro
lc-tech.com/rescuepro
The defacto standard solution from the defacto standard flash memory provider.

File Manipulation
----------------
(F) - Attribute Changer
webplaza.pt.lu/~rpetges/windows/windows.html
Allows date-time and attribute adjustment to any file or folder with many options. Please donate, coders need food too.

(F) - HashTab
implbits.com
Calculates hash tables for files to check integrity. Please donate, coders need food too.

Hard Disk Formatting
--------------------
(F) - Single Boot:
Use what came with the OS.

Multi-Boot:
(?) - PowerQuest Utilities; Partition Magic, Boot Magic, Drive Image
no longer available, try P2P.
There are probably newer solutions out there, for WinXP and older systems I have never seen these cause any problems. Most likely not the best for WinVI and newer systems.

Slipstreaming Tools
------------------
(F) - nLite
nliteos.com
Simply put, makes loading an OS to a rig much less time consuming. Please donate, coders need food too.

Stuff that works with nLite:
For Windows XP -
(F) - Xables Update Pack I highly recommend. Please donate, coders need food too.
xable.net
(F) - OnePeice's IE8 Slipstreamer
wincert.net/forum/index.php?/topic/5747-addon-internet-explorer-8-enu-true-addon
Please donate, coders need food too.
(F) - Boooggy's WMP 11 Slipstreamer
boooggy.org/slipstreamer
Please donate, coders need food too.
There are more as well.
Also, there are other Slipstream utilities such as:
(F) - RyanVM's.
ryanvm.net/msfn
Please donate, coders need food too.

That's it for now. HTH
